Role Description

• This is a full-time hybrid role for a KYC/AML Specialist, based in Lagos — hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office. As a licensed operator, our ability to take bets depends on doing compliance properly: verifying customers are who they say they are and of legal age, monitoring for money laundering and fraud patterns, and meeting our regulatory obligations without making onboarding painful for legitimate customers. You'll own day-to-day KYC operations and AML monitoring, working closely with customer service, payments, and engineering. This is a role for someone rigorous and fair-minded, who can apply judgement to grey areas and document decisions that will stand up to regulatory scrutiny.

What You'll Do

• Review and process KYC verifications: identity documents, age verification, selfie/liveness checks, and address verification, including escalated and edge cases
• Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on high-risk customers, including source-of-funds and source-of-wealth reviews
• Monitor transactions and betting patterns for AML red flags — structuring, rapid deposit-withdrawal cycles, third-party funding, and mule activity
• Investigate alerts from our fraud and risk tooling, document findings, and action accounts appropriately
• Screen customers against sanctions and PEP lists and manage resulting matches
• Prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and other regulatory reports accurately and on time
• Maintain complete, audit-ready records of all verification decisions and investigations
• Handle verification-related customer escalations with clear, defensible communication
• Contribute to KYC/AML policies, procedures, and risk assessments, and train customer-facing staff on red flags
• Work with engineering to tune verification flows and monitoring rules — reducing friction for genuine customers while tightening the net on bad actors

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of KYC/AML experience in betting/gaming, fintech, payments, or banking
• Strong working knowledge of Nigerian AML/CFT requirements and reporting obligations (NFIU, relevant CBN and gaming regulations)
• Hands-on experience with identity verification and screening tools, and with alert investigation workflows
• Sound, consistent judgement on risk decisions, with the ability to document reasoning clearly
• High attention to detail and comfort processing volume without sacrificing accuracy
• Discretion and integrity — you'll handle sensitive personal and financial data daily
• Clear written English for reports, case notes, and customer communication
• A Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Criminology, or a related fieldNice to Have
• Direct experience in a licensed betting or gaming operator's compliance team
• ACAMS, CFE, or equivalent compliance certification
• Familiarity with device intelligence and fraud prevention tooling
• Experience with responsible gambling monitoring and vulnerable customer indicators
• Experience preparing for regulatory inspections or audits
