Job Summary

• The Director of Physical Planning, Works and Maintenance Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and management of the university's physical infrastructure.

Specifically, the candidate will be expected to:

• Oversee planning, design, and execution of capital projects and renovations.
• Supervise maintenance of buildings, infrastructure, and utilities.
• Prepare and maintain the University's fixed assets register and make periodic reports to the Senate and Council on the physical state of the University.
• Establish and enforce facility management and sustainability policies.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, and government agencies.
• Manage budgets, procurement, and project schedules.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and university policies.
• Manage the department's budgets, oversee procurement processes, and develop and monitor project schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of all assignments.
• Ensure that all activities comply with applicable regulations as well as the university's internal policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates must possess a good degree in the relevant field (Engineering/ Architecture/ Building Technology/ Surveying or Town Planning) plus a Master's degree in any of the above fields
• Fifteen (15) years of cognate experience, three (3) of which must have been as a Deputy Director in a university system or similar institution, and be registered with relevant professional bodies.
• The desired candidate must be Computer literate.

Salary Grade
CONTISS 15.
