Job Description
- The Coding Instructor/Project Assistant will support the successful implementation and coordination of the Byte Busters Coding Club in an assigned location.
- The role combines coding instruction, learner engagement, club coordination and project administration.
- The successful candidate will work closely with learners, peer mentors and the project team to ensure that each coding club session is well organised, engaging and impactful.
- Beyond teaching coding, you will help create an environment where students feel confident to ask questions, experiment, solve problems and build with technology.
- This is also an opportunity to gain practical experience in digital education, youth development, project implementation and programme coordination, with access to relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Coding & Learner Engagement:
- Lead and support the planning and delivery of engaging after-school coding sessions.
- Facilitate practical learning activities in coding, digital skills and computational thinking.
- Support learners as they develop projects, solve problems and apply what they learn.
- Encourage participation, creativity, collaboration and peer-to-peer learning.
- Identify learners who may require additional support and provide appropriate guidance.
Club Coordination & Administration:
- Coordinate the smooth running of Byte Busters sessions at the assigned location.
- Prepare and organise learning materials, equipment and other resources required for sessions.
- Maintain accurate attendance, learner participation and activity records.
- Document club activities, learner achievements, challenges and key outcomes.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the project team.
- Support the coordination of special activities, assessments, showcases and other project events.
- Work collaboratively with school representatives, peer mentors and the wider project team.
Project Support:
- Support the effective implementation of DEFINED Project activities within the assigned location.
- Represent the values and objectives of Odu’a Investment Foundation professionally.
- Contribute ideas that can improve the learning experience and effectiveness of the coding clubs.
- Carry out other reasonable project-related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualification and Experience
- A relevant qualification or demonstrated competence in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science or a related field.
- Good practical knowledge of ICT and computer applications.
- Intermediate-level knowledge of programming and coding.
- Previous teaching or facilitation experience, particularly within the public school system or in IT-related subjects, is an advantage.
- Experience working with young people, students or educational programmes is an advantage.
- Proficiency in common computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge of the use of AI and design tools is an added advantage.
