Transport Dispatch Team Lead

Job Overview

• The Transport Dispatch Team Lead oversees daily dispatch operations, using Jumia's logistics systems to optimize routing, fleet efficiency, and delivery performance while collaborating across warehouse, driver, and customer service teams.

What You Will Be Doing

• Oversee daily dispatch activities, including vehicle allocation, route planning, and load optimization to maximize fleet efficiency and minimize delays.
• Utilize Jumia's logistics systems (e.g., TMS) to create and adjust dynamic routes, aligning with real-time demand, traffic conditions, and delivery SLAs.
• Publish daily capacity plans based on shipment volume and size mix (small/medium/bulky).
• Coordinate pickup capacity and frequency with dispatch agents and 3PL partners.
• Manage co-loader and fleet contractor relationships, negotiating for competitive pricing.
• Own financial reconciliation for chargeable weight, packages, and lost shipment cases.
• Coordinate return shipment (DRTV) handling with 3PL partners to manage pendency and cost.
• Track key metrics such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, vehicle utilization, and dispatch turnaround time; implement continuous improvements using data analytics.
• Coordinate with warehouse teams, drivers, third-party logistics partners, and customer service to resolve escalations and handle exceptions.
• Identify bottlenecks in dispatch workflows and recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports on dispatch performance, highlighting trends, variances, and actionable insights for senior management.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, or dispatch operations.
• Proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS), route optimization software, and basic Excel/data analysis tools.
• Strong team management skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
• Data-driven approach to problem-solving, with experience in KPI tracking and process improvement.
• Understanding of supply chain operations, last-mile delivery challenges, and e-commerce logistics requirements.
• Must have NYSC certificate or possess a valid exemption letter. 
• Candidate must be based in Abuja.
