Laboratory Manager

Job Description

• We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to oversee laboratory operations and equipment coordination. This role is critical to ensuring timely diagnostics through strict TAT (Turnaround Time) monitoring, proactive reagent planning, and continuous equipment uptime.
• The candidate will serve as the key liaison with equipment manufacturers like Beckman Coulter and will coordinate lab readiness without direct involvement in procurement or stores management.

Major Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations Monitoring:

• Monitor and ensure compliance with Turnaround Time (TAT) expectations for all laboratory tests.

Reagent Forecasting & Supply Coordination:

• Track reagent consumption trends and usage rates across all departments.
• Generate weekly/monthly reagent consumption reports.
• Accurately forecast future reagent needs based on current consumption, pending orders, and expected workloads.
• Provide timely alerts and recommendations for reordering to the procurement team.
• Ensure no downtime due to stock-outs of essential reagents.

Equipment Coordination:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all lab equipment service needs, including Beckman Coulter and other vendors.
• Ensure regular maintenance schedules are followed and preventive maintenance is conducted.
• Track and coordinate equipment upgrades and software updates.
• Ensure all controls and calibrations are run as per standard protocols.
• Work closely with lab staff to identify process delays and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain daily oversight of test volumes and capacity utilization.
• Work with vendors to minimize equipment downtime and ensure rapid resolution of breakdowns.

Reporting & Communication:

• Submit regular reports on TAT compliance, reagent planning, and equipment status to the Head, Pathologist.
• Maintain detailed logs of vendor communication, service interventions, and corrective actions taken.

Requirements

• Bachelor's / Master's Degree in a relevant field
• Fluency in English (both oral and written)
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in Laboratory Operations & Equipment Coordination
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience in Laboratory Operations & Equipment Coordination
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards
