Pastry Chef

Job Summary

• The Pastry Chef will be responsible for preparing a variety of pastries, baked goods, and desserts while maintaining consistent quality, taste, presentation, and hygiene standards.
• The ideal candidate should be creative, skilled in pastry production, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced supermarket environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of pastries, cakes, desserts, bread, and other baked products.
• Measure and mix ingredients accurately according to recipes and production requirements.
• Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, creams, icings, and other pastry components.
• Bake products at the appropriate temperatures and for the required duration.
• Decorate and present pastries attractively and professionally.
• Maintain consistency in taste, texture, quality, and presentation.
• Develop new pastry products and suggest improvements to existing recipes.
• Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
• Properly store ingredients and finished products to maintain freshness.
• Monitor inventory of baking and pastry ingredients and report low-stock items.
• Minimize wastage and ensure efficient use of ingredients.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic pastry production area.
• Clean and properly maintain baking equipment and utensils.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and health regulations at all times.
• Ensure all products meet the company's quality standards before display or sale.
• Package and label finished products appropriately.
• Work with other staff to ensure timely production and availability of pastries.
• Keep accurate records of production and ingredient usage where required.
• Report equipment faults, ingredient shortages, or production issues to management.

Requirements

• Minimum of OND; relevant culinary or pastry training/certification is an advantage with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
• Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, Pastry Cook, or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of pastry preparation and baking techniques.
• Ability to prepare a variety of pastries and baked products.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Good time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Salary
N80,000 - N100,000 / Month.
