Mathematics Teacher

Job Description

• We are looking for an enthusiastic and competent Mathematics Teacher who can inspire students to develop confidence and a strong understanding of Mathematics.
• The successful candidate will plan and deliver effective lessons in line with the school curriculum, assess students’ learning, provide appropriate support, and contribute positively to the academic and character development of students.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum.
• Explain mathematical concepts clearly using appropriate teaching methods and learning resources.
• Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, classwork, assignments, tests, and examinations.
• Assess students’ understanding and monitor their academic progress.
• Provide additional support to students who require assistance in Mathematics.
• Encourage critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and independent learning.
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations.
• Integrate appropriate technology and digital learning tools into Mathematics instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ assessments, grades, and academic progress.
• Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive learning environment.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, school activities, and co-curricular programmes.
• Communicate appropriately with parents, colleagues, and school management regarding students’ academic progress.
• Support the school’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline, good character, and holistic education.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the school management.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Mathematics, Education (Mathematics), or a related field.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as TRCN certification or evidence of eligibility/commitment to registration is an advantage.
• Previous teaching experience in a secondary school is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian secondary school Mathematics curriculum.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to make Mathematics practical, engaging, and accessible to students of different ability levels.
• Good ICT skills and willingness to use technology in teaching and learning.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A passion for teaching and commitment to students’ academic and personal development.
