People Operations Associate

As a People Operations Associate, you will own the day-to-day execution of the People function at VFAxAPP, managing talent acquisition, onboarding, offboarding, and HR processes. This is a critical execution role ensuring our talent infrastructure runs smoothly.
You'll step into a high-impact execution role at a rapidly scaling startup, keeping our internal People function running smoothly while we build the talent infrastructure for Africa's startup ecosystem. You're not just following instructions; you'll be actively identifying gaps and implementing fixes to ensure our hiring and HR processes are sharp and scalable.
What you'll do
- Manage all active hiring pipelines end-to-end, from job posting to offer.
- Own candidate communication, including outreach, scheduling, and feedback.
- Execute onboarding and offboarding processes, coordinating with team leads for smooth transitions.
- Maintain meticulous HR records and documentation, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
- Document existing processes and identify areas for improvement to support team growth.
- Handle day-to-day internal HR requests and policy inquiries efficiently.
Requirements
- You might be a great fit if you have 1-2 years of experience in HR, People ops, recruiting, or a similar operational role, ideally within a startup environment.
- You possess strong organizational instincts, meticulously track tasks, close loops, and consistently follow through on commitments.
- You're comfortable owning entire workflows independently, proactively identifying and resolving issues without constant oversight.
- You have excellent written communication skills, serving as a clear and professional first point of contact for both candidates and internal team members.
- You're familiar with ATS tools, spreadsheets, and the fundamental mechanics of recruiting operations.
Nice to have
- Experience at a startup or fast-moving organization.
- Familiarity with Nairobi's talent market or community-based hiring models.
- A background in HR compliance or basic Kenyan employment law.
