Weʼre looking for a Developer Experience Lead to own the end-to-end journey of building on Paystack—from the very first API call to long-term global scale. This is a high-impact leadership role that unifies Developer Relations and Technical Support into one cohesive platform experience. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and advocates to ensure Paystack isn't just a payment processor, but the most loved, "AI-ready," and intuitive platform for builders in Africa and beyond. You are the bridge between internal product excellence and external developer success.
You'll be the architect of our developer ecosystem, shaping the end-to-end experience for every builder using Paystack. This isn't just about managing teams; it's about defining our platform's future, ensuring technical excellence, and making Paystack the undisputed gold standard for developer experience. You'll drive strategic initiatives that empower developers globally and secure our position with the next generation of AI-native builders. What you'll do
- Define and execute a comprehensive strategy for developer community engagement across key markets.
- Ensure the quality, completeness, and AI-readiness of all API documentation and developer resources (SDKs, templates).
- Oversee and optimize the technical support experience for all merchants, from code-heavy integrations to 3rd-party platforms.
- Develop and implement a consistent technical education engine (office hours, webinars, playbooks).
- Manage a unified team of DevRel and Technical Solutions experts, fostering their growth and impact.
- Collaborate deeply with Product, Engineering, and Sales to embed DevEx as a core product feature.
Requirements
- You've got 8-12+ years of experience in DevRel, Solutions Engineering, Platform Product, or Developer Experience, with a strong portfolio of 'proof points' over strict tenure.
- You possess a deep technical foundation, can actively code, and fluently speak 'developer' (REST APIs, webhooks, SDKs, debugging are second nature).
- You're a natural teacher who loves helping people, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly to any audience, from beginner to expert.
- You thrive on building scalable systems—playbooks, tooling, and documentation—that preemptively solve problems, not just react to them.
- You have an entrepreneurial 'hacker spirit', constantly curious about emerging tech like AI agents or Stablecoins, and prone to weekend prototyping.
- You're proactive, always building permanent structural solutions to prevent issues from reoccurring, rather than just waiting for tickets to surface.
