Accountant

Job Summary

• We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and reliable Accountant to manage the company’s financial records, accounting operations, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, monitoring cash flow, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring proper financial documentation and reporting.
• The role will also involve handling accounting activities relating to properties and real estate projects, including property-related transactions, taxes, insurance, escrow accounts, and the appropriate allocation of costs and revenues across different properties and projects.
• The ideal candidate should have strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, good analytical abilities, and practical experience using accounting software and Microsoft Office tools.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting:

• Prepare accurate financial statements, management accounts, and periodic financial reports.
• Record, classify, and maintain accurate documentation of all financial transactions.
• Maintain the company’s general ledger and ensure financial records are complete and up to date.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate classification.
• Prepare account schedules, reconciliations, and supporting financial documentation.
• Assist management with financial information required for business and investment decisions.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

• Manage accounts payable and ensure invoices and financial obligations are accurately recorded and processed.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer payments where required.
• Maintain accurate records of suppliers, vendors, customers, and other financial transactions.
• Reconcile outstanding balances and investigate discrepancies.
• Ensure payments and receipts are properly documented and accounted for.

Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow Management

• Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor daily and periodic cash flow positions.
• Maintain accurate records of cash receipts, payments, transfers, and other banking transactions.
• Support management in monitoring liquidity and cash requirements.
• Ensure all banking and cash-related transactions are properly recorded.

Property & Real Estate Accounting

• Maintain accurate accounting records for property-related transactions and real estate projects.
• Record and allocate property-related costs, revenues, expenses, and other financial transactions appropriately.
• Monitor escrow accounts and ensure relevant transactions are properly documented and reconciled.
• Maintain accurate records relating to property taxes, insurance, service charges, and other property-related expenses.
• Support financial reporting for individual properties and projects.
• Assist in monitoring the financial performance of properties and development projects.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis:

• Support the preparation of annual and periodic budgets.
• Monitor actual financial performance against approved budgets.
• Identify significant variances and provide explanations or supporting analysis.
• Prepare financial analysis to support management decisions relating to property investments and development.
• Assist in evaluating the financial performance and viability of proposed projects and investments.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance:

• Support the preparation and submission of relevant tax filings and financial documentation.
• Monitor property tax obligations and ensure payments are properly recorded and processed.
• Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation.
• Monitor changes in applicable accounting and tax regulations that may affect the company.
• Ensure accounting activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.

Audit & Internal Controls:

• Coordinate with internal and external auditors when required.
• Prepare relevant financial records, schedules, and supporting documentation for audit exercises.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with internal accounting controls and procedures.
• Identify financial recordkeeping issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain organized financial documentation for easy retrieval and audit purposes.

Investment & Market Analysis:

• Conduct financial analysis to support real estate investment and development decisions.
• Assist in evaluating the financial implications of property acquisitions, developments, and disposals.
• Review relevant financial and market information to support investment assessments.
• Provide accurate financial data and analysis to management when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 1 – 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Practical understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of real estate or property accounting practices is an advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as SAGE, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger management.
• Good knowledge of financial reporting and recordkeeping.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Female candidates are preferred.
• Candidates should preferably reside in Abuja, FCT.
• Preferred age: 23–30 years.

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 monthly.
