Sales Manager (Direct Sales Agent)

Role Objective:

• Lead and energize the field sales team to execute astutely, supervise and coordinate field sales operations, drive territory performance, support sales execution, and ensure achievement of commercial objectives while supporting development of the team in their roles. 

Key Responsibilities & Metrics
Drive Revenue Growth and Market Penetration:

• Achieve agreed sales target through accurate forecasting and execution of sales tactical plans whilst developing a culture of performance and self-accountability for delivery of quality results within the team and increasing our customer reach. 

Metrics: 

• Sales target achievement 
• New Customer recruitment 
• Repeat purchase rate 
• Product availability and visibility across territories 
• Monthly sales growth 

Desired Outcome: 

• Achieve ≥ 100% of monthly sales target across all product lines  
• 100% achievement of new customer recruitment target  

Drive Customer Engagement & Channel Performance:

• Drive team customer profiling,  visit and engagement; and achieve sales force KPI via optimized customers touchpoint based on agreed segmentation and visit frequency. 

Metrics: 

• Visit / day 
• # of profiled customers.

Desired Outcome: 

• 10 visits/day 
• 100% completion of all customers profiling survey questions 
• 100% achievement of target frequency 

Market intelligence and competition reporting:

• Actively gathers, analyse, and communicate market intelligence to guide strategic decision making. This includes monitoring competitor activities, pricing movements, product launches, channel behaviour, customer trends, and emerging risks or opportunities across territories. 

Metrics: 

• Reporting frequency 
• Quality and relevance of report (Insight quality score - internal rating based on relevance, clarity, and actionability) 
• Time to report.

Desired Outcome: 

• 100% submission of monthly market intelligence report 
• >90% insight quality score.

Coaching and Team development:

• Develop a high performing sales team through continuous coaching, providing feedback, monitoring implementation of the feedback, Identifying skills gap and recommending skills development for team members, and performance reinforcement.

Metrics: 

• Number of field coaching days 
• Coaching report 
• Skills assessment .

Desired Outcome: 

• 80% of working days be spent on the field with the team 
• 100% report of coaching calls 
• 100% of team skills assessed bimonthly and reported.

Must have skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields
• 4+ years in field sales management, distributor/agent management, or trade marketing, ideally in pharma, FMCG, or distribution
• Proven experience managing a distributed or field-based sales team (direct sales agents, merchandisers, or similar)
• Strong data orientation — comfortable working with sales performance dashboards/CRM tools
• Experience with performance management, including disciplinary/exit processes, ideally in partnership with a third-party staffing/HR vendor
• Strong stakeholder management skills — able to work across internal leadership and external partner organizations .
