Budgeting, Planning & Forecasting | Lead the Group-wide annual budgeting and rolling forecast process. Review and challenge entity-level budgets submitted by Finance Managers. Present consolidated budget and variance analysis to the Board. | Group budget approved by Board on schedule; material variances (>10%) explained to Board within 5 working days of month-end. | Full Authority |
Treasury & Liquidity Oversight | Set Group treasury policy and oversee liquidity management, funding strategy, and placement decisions across entities. Approve significant treasury transactions and ensure compliance with CBN treasury guidelines. | Group liquidity ratio maintained above CBN minimum at all times; funding strategy reviewed quarterly. | Full Authority |
Regulatory & Statutory Compliance | Ensure Group-wide compliance with CBN regulatory requirements, NDIC returns, FIRS/State IRS tax obligations (PAYE, WHT, VAT, CIT), Pension Reform Act 2014, NSITF, and ITF. Serve as principal liaison with CBN, external auditors, and tax authorities on financial matters. | Zero regulatory infractions; all statutory returns filed within deadline across all entities. | Full Authority |
Risk Management & Internal Controls | Design and enforce Group financial risk management framework, internal controls, dual authorization limits, and segregation of duties. Capital & Investor Relations | Manage relationships with shareholders, lenders, and regulators on capital adequacy and funding matters. Lead due diligence processes for capital raises, credit facilities, or new investment. | Capital adequacy ratios maintained above regulatory minimums; funding secured to support Group growth plans. | Full Authority |
Team Leadership & Capability Building | Build and lead a high-performing Group finance function. Set performance objectives for Finance Managers and Treasury Managers across entities; drive standardisation of finance policies, systems, and reporting practices Group-wide. | Finance function fully staffed with clear succession pipeline; standardised finance policies adopted across all entities. | Full Authority |
Requirements
- Minimum BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline; MBA or Master's in Finance is an advantage.
- ACA, ACCA, or ICAN membership required; CFA an added advantage.
- Minimum 10–12 years' post-qualification experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role (CFO, Group Finance Director, or Head of Finance) within a CBN-licensed financial institution or diversified corporate group.
- Demonstrated experience managing finance functions across multiple business entities or subsidiaries.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, CBN prudential and accounting guidelines, Nigerian tax law, and the Pension Reform Act 2014.
- Track record of engaging effectively with Boards, regulators, external auditors, and investors.
