Job Description
- The Ambulance/Hospital Driver will be responsible for operating hospital vehicles safely while ensuring patients, staff, medical equipment, and supplies reach their destinations promptly.
- This role demands a high level of responsibility because transportation within the healthcare system often involves emergency situations where every minute counts.
- Applicants should be disciplined, safety-conscious, punctual, and capable of maintaining professionalism under challenging conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:
- Transport hospital staff to assigned locations when necessary.
- Drive ambulances and other hospital vehicles safely.
- Transport medical equipment and essential hospital supplies.
- Ensure vehicles remain clean and presentable at all times.
- Monitor fuel levels and arrange timely refuelling.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips.
- Report mechanical faults promptly for repairs.
- Assist medical personnel during patient transportation whenever required.
- Ensure patients are transported safely and comfortably.
- Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate vehicle movement records when required.
- Respond professionally during emergency situations.
- Protect hospital property while carrying out official duties.
Requirements
Valid Driver’s Licence:
- Candidates must possess a valid driver’s licence. This is a mandatory requirement for the position.
Driving Experience:
- Applicants should have proven experience operating vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Previous experience driving ambulances or hospital vehicles will be considered an added advantage.
- Good Knowledge of Road Networks
- Applicants should possess a strong understanding of roads within Port Harcourt and surrounding areas.
- Knowledge of alternative routes can be beneficial during emergencies or traffic congestion.
