Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Accounts to lead the company’s accounting and financial management functions.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, statutory and regulatory compliance, budgeting and forecasting, audit coordination, and overall integrity of the company’s financial records.
- The role will also provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to Management to support sound decision-making and sustainable growth within the microfinance sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s accounting and financial management functions.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Supervise account reconciliations and financial transactions.
- Monitor accounting systems and ensure effective internal financial controls.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
- Ensure timely compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor financial performance and provide relevant financial analysis.
- Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to Management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and microfinance regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate, transparent, and properly documented financial records.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or CFA is mandatory.
- 8–10 years’ relevant audit/accounting experience, with strong experience in the microfinance or financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, financial management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
