The Role / Duties

The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for:
- Overseeing all Financial operations (Budgeting, Accounting, Cash Management, Internal Control.
- Financial Planning, Reporting Audit liaison.
- Procurement Processes, Financial Compliance, risk Management.
- Any other duties assigned by the Council or Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicant must satisfy the Following Minimum criteria (or better):
Academic Qualification:

Candidates should possess a First Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a relevant discipline
Professional Fellowship or membership of recognized professional accounting bodies (e.g. ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, ACA, CPA)

Experience:

Minimum of 14 years' post-qualification with at least 4 years of cognate experience in a senior financial/administrative role (e.g. Deputy Bursar or equivalent).

Skills & Attributes:

Strong Financial Controls Orientation
ICT Competence (Experience with ERP/Accounting software)
Leadership and Communication Skills.

Additional Information:

Age Limit:

Not above 59 years as at the time of appointment.

Terms or Appointment and Remuneration

The appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years in the first instance and on satisfactory performance, the person may have his/her tenure extended for a further period of one (1) year finally.
Remuneration and conditions of service are in accordance with those applicable for the office of Bursar in Nigerian Universities (or as approved by University Council)
The Bursar shall be placed on an appropriate grade/scale commensurate with experience and in line with national standards.
