Senior Business Development Officer

Job Description

• The Senior Business Development Officer provides operational, administrative, and analytical support to the Sales & Marketing Department.
• The role ensures the smooth coordination of departmental activities by providing timely market intelligence, maintaining accurate records, supporting field operations, managing marketing resources, coordinating communications, and delivering actionable insights that contribute to the achievement of the company's commercial objectives.
• The role serves as the administrative backbone of the Sales & Marketing Department while also providing field support whenever required.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Department Administration:

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Sales & Marketing Department.
• Maintain departmental files, reports, correspondence, and records in both physical and electronic formats.
• Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up action reports.
• Schedule departmental meetings and coordinate logistics.
• Prepare presentations, proposals, and official documents.
• Ensure proper documentation of all departmental activities.

Sales Data Management & Reporting:

• Receive and collate sales reports from Regional Business Managers, Sales Representatives, and other field personnel.
• Review submitted reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Consolidate daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports into executive summaries.
• Develop dashboards highlighting key sales trends and performance indicators.
• Maintain an updated sales database.

Market Research & Business Intelligence:

• Conduct routine market surveys across assigned territories.
• Gather pricing information on company products and competitors' products.
• Monitor competitor activities, promotions, product launches, and distribution strategies.
• Analyze market data and prepare actionable recommendations.
• Monitor industry trends and identify emerging business opportunities.

Sales Support:

• Support implementation of sales campaigns and promotional activities.
• Coordinate product launch activities.
• Assist in organizing sales meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and training sessions.
• Prepare sales support materials for field teams.
• Follow up on action items arising from management meetings.

Inventory Management of Marketing Materials:

• Maintain inventory records of all marketing and promotional materials.
• Monitor stock levels of brochures, banners, gifts, branded materials, exhibition items, samples, and promotional tools.
• Coordinate issuance of marketing materials to field personnel.
• Maintain accountability records for distributed materials.
• Recommend replenishment before stock depletion.

Social Media & Digital Communications:

• Manage the company's official social media platforms.
• Develop and schedule engaging content aligned with the company's marketing objectives.
• Respond appropriately to online enquiries and direct messages.
• Monitor engagement metrics and prepare monthly performance reports.
• Ensure consistency of brand identity across digital platforms.
• Support digital campaigns and online product promotions.

Corporate Communications:

• Draft official communications on behalf of the Sales & Marketing Department.
• Coordinate communication with customers, distributors, healthcare professionals, vendors, and business partners where required.
• Assist in preparing newsletters, announcements, press materials, and promotional communications.
• Ensure prompt response to enquiries directed to the department.

Customer Relationship Support:

• Serve as the first point of contact for routine enquiries directed to the department.
• Maintain cordial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Follow up on customer requests and ensure timely resolution.
• Escalate issues requiring management intervention.

Field Operations Support:

• Participate in market visits, distributor visits, customer engagements, exhibitions, trade shows, and promotional campaigns.
• Conduct field audits when assigned.
• Verify market intelligence obtained from field teams.
• Assist with post-event reports and evaluations.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Maintain confidentiality of company information.
• Ensure proper filing and retrieval of departmental records.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain professionalism in all official engagements.

Continuous Improvement:

• Recommend improvements to departmental processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate reporting and administrative activities.
• Keep abreast of digital marketing tools, business intelligence software, and pharmaceutical market developments.
• Undertake any other assignment as may be directed by the Sales & Marketing Director or Head of Sales & Marketing.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess an HND, Master Degree, B.Sc with 3 - 8 years working experience.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and business reporting tools.
• Knowledge of digital marketing and social media management.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel for field assignments when required.
