Job title : Credit Underwriter

JOB SUMMARY:

• In this role you would be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our company's clients or customers.
• You will act as the primary point of contact between a business and its customers, and are responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing sales opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Implement Underwriting framework long-term strategic financial objectives
• Evaluate possibility of losses due to catastrophe or excessive insurance.
• Review and possibly revamp of the Company’s insurance policies to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with the company’s guidelines and standards.
• Lead underwriting, structuring, revisions and closing of amendments, upsizes and extensions as needed including annual reviews.
• Provide sound underwriting philosophies and discipline across all company business lines and demonstrate operational effectiveness in dealing with claims in accordance with company regulations aimed at meeting customer expectations
• Set appropriate pricing for all key products in all channels and risk classes so as to ensure that Company is meeting its stated strategy of underwriting to achieve profit in all products and across all distribution channels
• Innovate product developments to meet consumers’ insurance needs with the aim of generating new business for the brand

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to design and implement credit risk framework High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
• Ability to decode and implement credit risk framework Ability to generate credit leads from farmed leads Ability to effectively underwrite according to the company's credit policy and risk framework
• Ability to follow up on disbursed loans and collect repayments with minimal supervision
• Ability to follow up with overdue and recover with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain proper records for the management

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

• Solid working knowledge of risk management
• Commercial focus with demonstrated ability to identify and deliver commercial outcomes
• Thoughtful and demonstrates good judgment and strong decision-making skills
• Strong people management skills
• Results-oriented approach to work; willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team
• Ability to identify and implement efficiencies and process improvements
• Strong problem solving and creative skills and ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

• B.Sc Degree or its equivalent in Business Admin or related field.
• Membership of CIIN is an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 2 years' experience with 1 years in a similar or equivalent role in Experience in lending industry, most especially in lead generation, credit underwriting and collections management
• Extensive experience in design of credit policy
• Experience working in credit risk management
