ROLE SUMMARY

As Client Account Executive, you will be the vital link between the commercial team, clients, and international carrier partners. You will manage international partner pricing and invoicing, prepare competitive quotations, and support the Business Development team in converting leads into confirmed shipments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, commercially minded, and comfortable negotiating with shipping lines, airlines, and local transport vendors while delivering exceptional client service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Pricing & Quotation Management
  • Manage and respond to customer and sales team requests for freight quotations (air, sea, and land) promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive, competitive proposals and RFQs in line with agreed timelines.
  • Verify pricing against agreed contracts and research market-based pricing components.
  • Manage and update international partner pricing, tariffs, and rate databases.
  • Ensure error-free billing and timely invoicing in line with agreed timelines.
  1. Carrier & Vendor Negotiation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, co-loaders, and local transport vendors.
  • Negotiate ad-hoc rates and long-term contracts to keep the company competitive in the market.
  • Stay updated on market trends, surcharges, and fluctuating carrier rates (e.g., GRI, PSS, BAF).
  • Coordinate contract activities related to international pricing and invoicing requests.
  1. Client Relationship Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts on pricing and service solutions.
  • Follow up on submitted quotations, gather feedback, and understand reasons for won/lost bids to refine future pricing strategies.
  • Conduct targeted conversations with customers to understand and address their needs.
  • Follow up on shipment bookings from origin through to delivery.
  • Provide consultative advice to clients on market conditions and optimal shipping strategies.
  1. Collaboration, Reporting & Strategic Input
  • Work closely with the Sales and Business Development teams to support tender submissions and lead conversion.
  • Interface with Operations to obtain status updates and ensure smooth handover of secured shipments.
  • Update status and milestone reports on the company’s tracking system for customer accessibility.
  • Prepare and circulate periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) reports on pricing performance, win/loss ratios, and market intelligence.
  • Identify process lapses or deviations and recommend improvements to strengthen customer service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Logistics, Procurement, or Freight Forwarding is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in freight forwarding, specifically within a Pricing, Commercial, or Key Account Management role.
  • Proven track record of successful rate negotiation with shipping lines (e.g., Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM) and airlines.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms 2020 and strong understanding of air freight, sea freight (FCL/LCL), and local transport dynamics.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex pricing information clearly.
  • Persuasive and convincing with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Advanced Excel); experience with freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Logisys) is an advantage.
  • Highly organized and proactive, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork, integrity, and professionalism.
