Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) Instructor (Consultant)

Job Purpose

• The ECCD Instructor will facilitate structured training for caregivers, equipping them with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to provide safe, responsive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate care and learning experiences for young children.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate theoretical and practical training sessions for caregivers using the approved ECCDcurriculum.
• Deliver engaging, learner-centered sessions on early childhood development, responsive caregiving, play-based learning, child health, hygiene, nutrition, safety, and child protection.
• Demonstrate practical caregiving techniques and age-appropriate activities that trainees can apply in childcare settings.
• Prepare lesson plans, presentations, practical exercises, demonstrations, assignments, and other training materials.
• Assess trainees through practical demonstrations, assignments, tests, and other competency-based assessment methods.
• Provide feedback, coaching, and additional support to trainees to improve their knowledge and practical skills.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson delivery, assessments, and trainee performance.
• Ensure that all training activities uphold child safeguarding, inclusion, professionalism, and ethical standards.
• Participate in trainee monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and other programme activities.
• Work closely with the Training Programme Manager and other project personnel to ensure effective and timely delivery of the training.
• Contribute to improving training quality by identifying gaps and recommending practical solutions.
• Perform other ECCD-related instructional duties assigned by the Training Programme Manager.
• Two (2) to 3 times a week
• Report to the Training Program Manager

Minimum Qualifications

• NCE, ND, HND, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Care and Education, Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in ECCE, childcare, teaching, caregiver training, or child development.
• Strong facilitation and adult-learning skills.
• Good knowledge of child safeguarding and protection.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to conduct practical demonstrations and competency-based assessments.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in caregiver training, vocational/skills training, community-based training, or donor-supported education programmeswill be an advantage.
