Job title : Technical Assistant to the CEO

Job Summary

• The job role provides high-level administrative, research, and project management support to the MD/CEO.
• Coordinate strategic initiatives, prepare board/exco materials, and drive execution of key bank priorities across Retail, Corporate, Treasury and Operations etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilties
Strategy & Execution Support:

• Strategic Initiatives: Own and drive MD-level projects. Examples: Digital bank launch, Cost optimization, Branch expansion, CBN compliance projects
• Follow-ups: Track all MD directives and ensure closure with EXCO and Business Heads.
• Problem Solving: Investigate issues escalated to the MD and propose solutions within agreed timelines

Office Management & Communications:

• Calendar & Gatekeeping: Manage MD’s calendar. Prioritize meetings, brief MD before key engagements
• Correspondence: Draft speeches, memos, board papers, and emails on behalf of MD. Handle confidential documents
• Stakeholder Management: Interface between MD and EXCO, Board, Regulators CBN/NDIC, and key clients

Research, Analysis & Reporting:

• Market & Competitor Intel: Weekly brief on other banks moves, CBN circulars, fintech trends
• Data & Presentations: Build slides for Board, EXCO, and Investor calls. Bank metrics: NPL, CASA, NIM, Cost-to-Income
• Briefing Notes: 1-pager for MD before every meeting with regulators, investors, or large clients

Governance & Special Projects:

• Board/EXCO Support: Prepare agenda, collate papers, take minutes, track action items
• Regulatory Liaison: Coordinate bank’s response to CBN queries and regulatory exams
• Special Assignments: Handle any ad-hoc task assigned by MD.

Key Performance Indicators

• Speed of response to emails
• Number of grammatical or style errors in email correspondence and draft documents
• Timeliness of delivery of meeting agenda to stakeholders
• Efficiency of document filling
• Efficiency of the CEO in meeting his targets.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business. MBA/MSc is a strong advantage
• Experience: 6 years and above in Banking, Consulting, or Investment Banking. Must have worked in Strategy, Operations, or MD’s Office
• Certifications: ACA, CFA Level 1, or CIBN is an advantage
• Ability to understand complex banking issues and simplify for MD
• Banking Knowledge: Understands P&L, Risk, Treasury, Retail Banking, and CBN regulations
• Excellent writing, PowerPoint, and executive presence
• Discretion & Integrity: Handles sensitive M&A, HR, and regulatory info
• Stakeholder Management: Can chase a GM and a Branch Manager with equal firmness.
