Assistant Branch Accountant

Role Overview
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Branch Accountant to support the Branch Accountant in managing the branch’s financial records, transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
- The successful candidate will assist in ensuring accurate financial documentation, proper cash management, compliance with accounting procedures, and timely preparation of financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date branch financial records and accounting entries.
- Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Record and process branch expenses, sales, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
- Assist with daily cash and bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor branch cash collections and ensure timely banking of funds.
- Verify invoices, receipts, payment requests, and other supporting documents before processing.
- Assist in monitoring accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Support the preparation and review of branch budgets and expenditure reports.
- Ensure proper filing and maintenance of accounting documents and records.
- Assist with stock and inventory reconciliations in collaboration with the warehouse and sales teams.
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing required financial records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and relevant financial regulations.
- Identify and report financial discrepancies, irregularities, or control weaknesses to the Branch Accountant.
- Assist with payroll-related documentation and other branch financial matters where required.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Branch Accountant or Finance Manager.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a branch or retail environment.
- Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle financial information responsibly.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
- Female is preferred (for gender balance).
