Job Summary
- The Assistant Accountant provides administrative and financial support to the Accountant in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with the Company's financial policies and statutory requirements.
- The role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll support, expense tracking, financial documentation, and maintaining proper accounting records.
- The Assistant Accountant will contribute to the timely preparation of financial reports while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in Financial Records Management:
- Ensure all accounting documents are properly filed and archived.
- Maintain an organized database of financial records for easy retrieval.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process supplier invoices and prepare payment schedules.
- Verify invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation before processing payments.
- Assist in preparing payment vouchers and electronic transfers.
- Reconcile supplier and customer account statements.
Bank & Cash Management:
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare cash summaries and reconciliation reports.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support the Accountant during month-end and year-end closing activities.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance:
- Support the processing of pension, PAYE, NHF, NSITF, ITF, and other statutory remittances.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable tax and financial regulations.
Audit & Internal Control:
- Prepare documentation required for internal and external audits.
- Ensure financial transactions comply with Company policies and procedures.
Procurement & Vendor Support:
- Liaise with vendors regarding invoices and payment status.
- Maintain supplier records and payment schedules.
Administrative Support:
- Prepare financial correspondence and reports.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting.
- Active pursuit of a professional accounting certification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 0 - 2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Experience using accounting software will be an added advantage.
- Experience in engineering, construction, aviation, or project-based organizations is desirable.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to prepare accurate financial reports.
Behavioural Competencies:
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong sense of accountability and responsibility.
Additional Requirements:
- Must reside in Lagos.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, honesty, and ethical conduct at all times.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet reporting deadlines.
- May be required to work extended hours during month-end, year-end closing, or audit periods.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all financial and Company information.
Salary
N250,000 monthly.
