- Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's fleet of vehicles.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure maximum vehicle availability.
- Monitor vehicle servicing, repairs, inspections, licensing, and insurance renewals.
- Track vehicle usage, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance costs.
- Supervise and manage fleet drivers, ensuring adherence to company policies and road safety regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and vehicle breakdowns, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements relating to fleet operations.
- Maintain accurate fleet records, including maintenance history, registration, insurance, and fuel logs.
- Negotiate with vendors and service providers to obtain cost-effective maintenance and repair services.
- Monitor fleet performance using GPS tracking and fleet management systems where applicable.
- Prepare periodic reports on fleet performance, operational costs, and maintenance activities.
- Recommend strategies for improving fleet efficiency and reducing operational expenses.
- Ensure company vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and professionally presented at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Transport Management, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in fleet management or transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fleet administration, and transport regulations.
- Experience supervising drivers and managing fleet-related documentation.
- Good understanding of vehicle diagnostics and preventive maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience using fleet management software or GPS tracking systems is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Valid driver's licence with good driving experience is an added advantage.
