Deputy Head, Academics

Job Summary

• The Deputy Head, Academics will provide academic leadership, oversee curriculum implementation, and drive student achievement across the school (boarding and day).
• You will work collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure high teaching standards, academic excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Academics in setting academic goals and strategic direction
• Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and review
• Monitor and evaluate teaching quality, providing feedback and support for improvement
• Lead academic staff development and training initiatives
• Manage academic assessments, exams, and reporting to parents
• Foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation
• Collaborate with department heads to ensure effective subject coordination
• Support student pastoral care and academic counseling (boarding and day students)
• Oversee academic policies, procedures, and compliance

Requirements

• Degree / Master’s Degree in Education or relevant field
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Proven track record of academic leadership and improving student outcomes
• Strong understanding of Nigerian curriculum and educational trends
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to Christian values and ethos
• TRCN registration
