General Manager (Marketing)

Role Summary

• The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for the company's marketing and sales operations, expand its market presence, drive revenue growth, and coordinate marketing activities across its offices nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective national marketing and sales strategies.
• Lead, supervise, and evaluate marketing and sales teams across Nigeria.
• Drive sales growth and ensure the achievement of agreed revenue targets.
• Develop new markets and strengthen relationships with schools, booksellers, distributors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct market research and monitor industry trends, customer preferences, and competitors’ activities.
• Prepare annual marketing plans, budgets, sales forecasts, and performance reports.
• Coordinate product launches, exhibitions, book fairs, promotional campaigns, and institutional sales.
• Strengthen the company’s brand visibility through traditional and digital marketing channels.
• Establish and manage effective distribution and sales networks nationwide.
• Collaborate with the Editorial, Production, Finance, and Distribution departments to ensure that products meet market demands.
• Advise management on pricing, product development, market opportunities, and business growth.
• Ensure effective credit control and prompt collection of sales proceeds.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Postgraduate Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Mass Communication, or other relevant disciplines.
• A relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in marketing or sales, with at least five years in a senior management position.
• Previous work experience in the publishing industry will be an added advantage.
• Demonstrable experience in managing multi-location marketing and sales operations.
• A proven record of achieving sales targets and expanding market share.
• Age requirement: 40-50 years.

Required Competencies:

• Strong strategic planning, leadership, and team-management abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of the Nigerian educational and publishing markets.
• Strong analytical, budgeting, and business-development skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital marketing tools.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Nigeria.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, initiative, and result orientation.

Remuneration
Attractive and competitive (Salary: N200,000 - N400,000 monthly) in line with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
