Customer Service Representative & Cashier

About the Role

• Dezigntees.ng is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Customer Service Representative & Cashier to join our team.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing customer purchases accurately, handling cash and electronic payments, assisting customers with products and orders, and supporting day-to-day store operations.
• This position requires someone who is organized, trustworthy, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with customers in a busy retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional service.
• Assist customers with product selection, pricing, sizes, colours, designs, availability, and other product-related questions.
• Respond to customer inquiries in person, by phone, WhatsApp, email, and social media where required.
• Listen to customer concerns and resolve complaints professionally.
• Provide accurate information about orders, pickup, delivery, exchanges, and returns.
• Follow up on customer requests and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
• Maintain a positive customer experience from initial inquiry through purchase and after-sales service.

Cashier & Payment Processing:

• Operate the company's cash register/POS system accurately.
• Process cash, debit/credit card, bank transfer, mobile payment, and other approved payment methods.
• Issue receipts and confirm payments before releasing products or orders.
• Accurately calculate change and reconcile cash at the end of each shift.
• Maintain accurate records of daily sales and transactions.
• Report payment discrepancies, shortages, overages, or suspicious transactions to the supervisor.
• Follow company procedures for refunds, exchanges, discounts, and cancelled transactions.
• Handle customer and payment information confidentially.

Order Processing:

• Receive and accurately enter customer orders.
• Verify product details, quantities, sizes, colours/designs, customer information, and delivery or pickup details.
• Confirm payment status and ensure orders are properly documented.
• Coordinate with production, inventory, and delivery teams to ensure customer orders are completed correctly.
• Notify customers when orders are ready for pickup or have been dispatched.
• Track outstanding and delayed orders and escalate issues when necessary.

Sales & Store Support:

• Assist customers in identifying products that meet their needs.
• Promote relevant products, designs, promotions, and available offers.
• Maintain an organized and presentable customer-service/cashier area.
• Assist with displaying products and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
• Report low-stock items or inventory discrepancies to the appropriate team member.
• Support inventory counts and basic stock-control activities.
• Assist with opening and closing store procedures when required.

Returns & Customer Issues:

• Receive and document approved returns and exchange requests.
• Verify returned items according to company policies.
• Assist customers with replacement or exchange processes.
• Escalate complex complaints, refund requests, or order discrepancies to management.
• Maintain accurate records of returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.

Qualifications

• Secondary school certificate, diploma, or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in customer service, cashiering, retail, sales, or order processing is preferred.
• Experience using a POS system or electronic payment systems is an advantage.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy customer-facing environment.
