Head - Financial, Regulatory & Subsidiary Reporting

Job Summary

• Coordinates the Bank’s financial regulatory reports and returns from all the other Units and department and ensures the bank meets its regulatory requirements for returns submission.
• Continuous liaison with the regulators on new and potential regulatory reports and fashion out a process with data owners to meet the requirements.
• Assumes ownership of the end-to-end reporting process, taking responsibility for coordination between units within Finance to ensure delivery of the reporting requirements.
• Manage the Financial year end process, Regulatory Examinations and ensure all requirement of the External Auditor as regards the Audited Financial Statement are met timely.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and delivery of the Bank's statutory financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and Group policies.
• Coordinate annual external audits and ensure timely provision of information, schedules, and supporting documentation to auditors.
• Ensure the integrity of the Bank's financial records through robust account reconciliation and substantiation processes.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of all regulatory returns to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other applicable regulatory bodies.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of regulatory, prudential, treasury, trade, and subsidiary reporting obligations.
• Monitor changes in regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate implementation across relevant stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulators on financial and regulatory reporting matters and support regulatory examinations, reviews, and inspections.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory capital adequacy and prudential returns.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory capital and market risk requirements, escalating breaches and emerging issues to senior management where necessary.
• Review and challenge regulatory risk and capital information to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
• Drive the enhancement, automation, and standardisation of financial and regulatory reporting processes to improve efficiency, control, and data quality.
• Partner with Finance, Treasury, Operations, Technology, and other stakeholders to strengthen reporting infrastructure and governance frameworks.
• Support the resolution of reporting issues and ensure effective implementation of regulatory developments and reporting changes.

Governance:

• Act as Secretary or Alternate Secretary to relevant regulatory reporting governance forums, ensuring effective oversight, tracking of actions, and escalation of key regulatory reporting issues.
• Promote awareness and understanding of the regulatory environment, ensuring stakeholders understand their responsibilities and obligations relating to financial and regulatory reporting.
• Partner with Internal Audit, External Auditors, and other assurance functions to support reviews, audits, and examinations, and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
• Maintain a robust financial control environment by ensuring reporting controls, documentation, and operating procedures remain current, effective, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of the financial control framework by identifying opportunities to strengthen controls, mitigate risks, and enhance reporting quality and efficiency.
• Establish and monitor key controls across financial and regulatory reporting processes to ensure risks are managed within the Bank's risk appetite and governance standards.
• Provide leadership and guidance to stakeholders on financial control, governance, and regulatory reporting matters, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Key Experiences: Over 8 years’ experience in a senior financial management and administration position of a Bank or large commercial organisation.
• Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, IFRS Standards, Group Accounting Policy, taxation and banking and exchange control legislation.
• Broad understanding of banking practice.
• Superior knowledge and experience in utilization of Information Technology in modern business.
• Good communications, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Effective manager & developer of staff
