Public Relations Officer

Core Responsibilities
- Process Freedom of Information Requests: Receive, track, and fulfill public data inquiries within legally mandated timelines.
- Review and Redact Records: Screen requested documents to obscure private, confidential, or legally exempt data before public release.
- Manage Retention Schedules: Supervise the creation, lifetime tracking, archiving, and lawful destruction of organizational records.
- Oversee Database Security: Maintain physical and digital archive access limits to maintain database chain of custody
- Train Staff Members: Educate inner-department employees on data compliance laws and standardization practices
- Liaise with Legal Counsel: Work alongside legal teams to defend document withholding choices when public exemptions apply.
Common Job Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Public Administration, Information Management, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of work in records tracking, legal compliance, or public sector administration.
- Certifications: Credentials like Certified Records Manager (CRM) or Certified Public Records Officer (CPRO) are frequently preferred.
Salary
N150,000 - N250,000 per month.
