Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Chief Steward to oversee kitchen stewarding, ware-washing, kitchen hygiene, and back-of-house cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the stewarding and kitchen-portering team.
- Ensure all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, plates, and equipment are properly cleaned.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and sanitation.
- Coordinate cleaning schedules across kitchen and food-service areas.
- Monitor cleaning chemicals and stewarding supplies.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and segregation.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, drains, storage areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Train staff on hygiene, cleaning, and safe equipment handling.
- Report damaged equipment and maintenance issues.
- Ensure compliance with hotel food safety and hygiene standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in hotel or restaurant stewarding.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation.
- Good organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage a busy stewarding operation.
- Physically fit and able to work under pressure.
