Business Development Officer

Pishon and Brooks Advisory Services

Job Summary

  • The Business Development Officer will identify and secure new business opportunities, expand the customer base, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships across the education and publishing ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
  • Prospect and acquire retail, wholesale, institutional, and corporate clients.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet assigned revenue targets.
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, events, and direct outreach.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Serve as primary contact for key accounts and strategic partners.
  • Conduct regular client visits to identify needs and upselling opportunities.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and issue resolution.

Market Expansion & Performance:

  • Develop strategies to grow the organization's presence across Nigeria and neighboring countries.
  • Explore opportunities with schools, universities, libraries, NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets; track KPIs.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, activity reports, and market intelligence updates.
  • Represent the company at exhibitions, book fairs, and industry conferences.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Number of new accounts acquired and customer retention rate.
  • Revenue generated from new and existing clients.
  • Number of client visited and market expansion initiatives implemented.
  • Lead conversion rate.
  • Timely submission of BD reports

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years' experience in Business Development, Sales, or Key Account Management.
  • Experience in publishing, education, retail distribution, or FMCG is an added advantage.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Sales strategy development, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Customer relationship management (CRM) and market research.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and proposal writing skills.
  • Result-oriented, target-driven, with strong commercial awareness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent networking abilities.
  • Professionalism and integrity.
