Role Overview
- We are seeking a highly driven and results-oriented Team Lead, Consumer Lending (Telesales) to lead our telesales function within the Credit Department.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for driving consumer loan growth, leading and developing a high-performing telesales team, generating quality lending opportunities, and ensuring consistent achievement of business and credit targets.
Role Description
- Lead, supervise, coach, and motivate a team of Telesales team to consistently achieve and exceed their monthly lending targets.
- Drive a minimum 100% team target achievement through effective performance management, sales planning, monitoring, and coaching.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase loan applications, conversions, and quality disbursements while maintaining appropriate credit and KYC standards.
- Identify, develop, and maintain new lending channels, platforms, partnerships, and customer acquisition avenues capable of generating sustainable consumer lending volumes.
- Build and manage a robust lead-generation pipeline, ensuring sufficient quality leads are continuously made available to Telesales team members for conversion and disbursement.
- Monitor individual and team performance using key metrics including leads generated, conversion rates, applications, approvals, disbursements, repayment performance, and portfolio quality.
- Train and continuously develop Telesales team members on product knowledge, sales techniques, customer engagement, KYC/credit requirements, approved processes, and compliance standards.
- Oversee the onboarding of new team members and ensure full integration into the team
- Establish structured sales routines, call monitoring, coaching sessions, and performance reviews to improve productivity and conversion rates.
- Work closely with Credit, Operations, Risk, IT, and Business Development teams to manage process bottlenecks and improve lending turnaround time.
- Ensure that sales activities are aligned with the Bank's credit policy, responsible lending principles, customer protection requirements, and approved lending processes.
- Analyse portfolio and sales performance to identify opportunities, weaknesses, and corrective actions.
- Take ownership of team performance and ensure underperforming officers receive timely coaching, support, and performance interventions.
- Develop innovative strategies to expand the Bank's consumer lending portfolio while maintaining sustainable portfolio quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years' experience in consumer lending, telesales, digital lending, banking, microfinance, fintech, or a related financial services environment, with proven team leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing telesales teams.
- Strong understanding of consumer lending, loan origination, customer acquisition, KYC, credit processes, and portfolio management.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales and disbursement targets.
- Strong lead-generation, business development, partnership, and customer acquisition skills.
- Excellent communication, coaching, negotiation, analytical, and people-management skills.
- Ability to work in a target-driven and performance-oriented environment.
- Strong understanding of credit risk and the ability to balance loan growth with portfolio quality.
