Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Fabricator at Dangote - Okpella Cement Limited who will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical components and structures used in cement manufacturing processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant operations by producing high-quality fabricated parts and assemblies according to specifications.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine job requirements for fabrication and assembly.
Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
Fabricate and repair plant equipment such as conveyors, crushers, kilns, hoppers, ducts, and chutes.
Perform welding (MIG, TIG, arc, and gas welding) and other joining techniques to assemble and repair components.
Install fabricated elements into existing plant systems, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
Conduct regular inspections of fabricated structures and equipment, identifying wear, damage, or areas for improvement.
Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve mechanical issues and optimize fabrication processes.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to industry safety standards and company policies.
Document fabrication processes, modifications, and repairs for reference and compliance purposes.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Sectional Heads.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

First degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of five (3) years of progressive experience in fabricating within industrial or cement-related field.

Skills And Competencies

Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems relevant to cement plant operations.
Basic understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Awareness of industrial safety standards and procedures.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
