Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our team and provide exceptional eye care services to our patients.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, binocular vision, and ocular health.
Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases, including but not limited to, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, low vision aids and other optical aids based on patients' visual needs and lifestyle preferences.
Perform specialized testing such as visual field analysis, OCT imaging, and corneal topography to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing refractive surgeries, such as LASIK and PRK.
Correction of errors of binocularity by means of vision training (orthoptics)
Diagnosis and management of minor ocular infections which do not pose a threat to the integrity of the ocular or visual system.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care and optimal treatment outcomes.
Educate patients about proper eye care practices, including the importance of regular eye examinations, proper eyewear usage, and lifestyle modifications to maintain ocular health.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with regulatory standards and practice protocols.
Stay updated on advancements in optometric technology, treatment modalities, and industry trends through continuing education and professional development activities.
Participate in practice marketing initiatives and community outreach programs to promote eye health awareness and attract new patients.

Qualifications

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
2+ years relevant work experience.
Valid license to practice optometry and a member of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN).
Clinical experience in conducting comprehensive eye examinations and managing ocular diseases.
Proficiency in utilizing diagnostic equipment and tools, including phoropters, slit lamps, tonometers, and fundus cameras.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical concepts in an easily understandable manner.
Detail-oriented approach to patient care with a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of practice.
