Job Description

• The Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing the daily banking operations of the branch, with a strong focus on cash management, customer service, and transaction processing.
• This role combines both front-line transaction processing and back-office operational support, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and pay out cash to customers accurately and promptly.
• Process deposits, withdrawals, loan repayments, and fund transfers.
• Cross-check cash received and paid to ensure no discrepancies.
• Maintain proper documentation and balances in daily teller register.
• Manage cash drawer within authorized limits and ensure daily reconciliation.
• Detect and report counterfeit notes or suspicious activities immediately.
• Support the branch in back-office operational functions such as account opening, maintenance, and records management.
• Ensure all daily transactions are recorded accurately in the system.
• Monitor vault cash levels and coordinate with the Branch Manager for cash requisitions.
• Ensure adherence to all internal controls and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of customer information.
• Participate in the preparation and submission of operational reports.
• Assist with compliance checks, audits, and inventory of assets and records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in banking operations and/or teller services.

Other Requirements:

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and core banking software.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle high-volume transactions.
• Knowledge of banking regulations, operational standards, and compliance procedures.
