Physical Education Teacher

Summary

• We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and student-focused Physical Education Teacher to join our secondary school team.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students while delivering engaging Physical and Health Education lessons.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct class and subject teaching activities in line with approved teaching schemes, lesson plans, and school policies.
• Teach Physical Education and Health Education using engaging, practical, and student-centered instructional methods.
• Organize and supervise sports, fitness activities, physical exercises, and inter-house/inter-school sporting events.
• Monitor students’ learning progress and provide feedback on the effectiveness and completeness of teaching plans and activities.
• Identify students with special learning needs and liaise with the Remedial Teacher to develop appropriate support strategies.
• Maintain discipline during classroom lessons, sporting activities, and outdoor exercises while ensuring students’ safety at all times.
• Apply approved sanctions for misdemeanors and escalate major disciplinary issues promptly to the Head of School.
• Provide pastoral care and support students’ physical, emotional, and social development.
• Grade students’ practical activities, tests, assignments, and examinations accurately and promptly.
• Monitor and report continuously on students’ progress, participation, fitness development, and achievements.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with parents/guardians regarding students’ performance and welfare where necessary.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of sports equipment and facilities.
• Contribute positively to teamwork, collaboration, and a supportive school environment.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, school events, trainings, and extracurricular activities.

Requirements

• Minimum of B.Ed. / B.Sc. (Ed.) in Physical & Health Education, Human Kinetics, Sports Science, or related discipline.
• TRCN certification.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a secondary school environment.
• Good knowledge of physical fitness, sports coaching, and student wellness practices.
• Strong classroom and sports activity management skills.
• Ability to motivate students and encourage active participation in sports and fitness activities.
