Role Summary
- The Accountant, will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the business unit by ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost control, sound financial analysis and compliance with company policies.
- The role requires a commercially minded finance professional who will not only produce financial reports but also partner with operational management to improve profitability, efficiency and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate books of account for the business unit.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial performance reports.
- Monitor revenues, production costs, operating expenses, margins and profitability.
- Prepare reconciliations for bank accounts, general ledger accounts and key balance sheet items.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Monitor receivables, payables and working capital performance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and statutory requirements.
- Provide financial analysis to support operational and management decision-making.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Supervise finance support staff within the business unit.
- Recommend initiatives that improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or advanced stage of completion) is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, management accounting, reconciliations and ledger management.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations or unit finance will be an added advantage.
- Good working knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
- Ability to support operational management with sound financial analysis and decision-making.

What Success Looks Like Within the first twelve months:
The Accountant will be expected to:
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts within agreed timelines.
- Maintain error-free accounting records and reconciliations.
- Improve budgetary control and cost management.
- Reduce aged receivables and improve working capital management.
- Provide meaningful financial insights that support operational decision-making.
- Strengthen compliance with internal controls and finance procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Develop the capability of finance support staff.
- Become a trusted financial adviser to the Operations Manager and Head Office Finance Team.
