Account Officer

Job Summary
- Oversee the Company's financial operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, cash flow management, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory regulations.
- Manage project and property accounting, including monitoring development costs, construction expenditures, property sales, rental income, and profitability to support sound financial decision-making.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and financial systems to safeguard Company assets, mitigate financial risks, and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure timely preparation of financial statements, tax filings, statutory remittances, and audit requirements while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards for financial documentation and process control.
- Provide strategic financial leadership by supervising the accounting team, advising Management on financial performance and investment decisions, and supporting the achievement of the Company's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements, and Company policies.
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Monitor budgets, project costs, cash flow, and profitability, providing timely financial reports and variance analyses.
- Manage tax compliance, statutory filings, and internal/external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial risk management systems.
- Support procurement and project teams with financial evaluations, payment schedules, and cost control.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team while driving continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- ND, HND or Bsc in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years experience in accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
