Reinsurance Officer

Role Summary 

• Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Reinsurance Officer to support the effective administration of its reinsurance portfolio.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating treaty and facultative reinsurance activities, monitoring premiums and recoveries, supporting reinsurance accounting, and ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
• The role requires strong analytical ability, sound knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles, and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, insurers, reinsurers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Reinsurance Operations:

• Administer treaty and facultative reinsurance transactions in line with established procedures and contractual requirements.
• Support the processing of inward and outward facultative placements with approved insurance and reinsurance counterparties.
• Monitor reinsurance premiums, commissions, retentions, and other contractual obligations to ensure timely settlement.
• Follow up on outstanding treaty and facultative claims recoveries and resolve identified reconciliation issues.
• Review reinsurance documentation and transaction records to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.

Reinsurance Analysis & Accounting:

• Support the preparation of reinsurance account entries, reconciliations, and related financial schedules.
• Assist in analysing reinsurance contracts, including limits, retentions, rates, deductibles, and other applicable terms.
• Monitor large losses and assess their implications for reinsurance recoveries.
• Provide relevant information for statutory, management, and reinsurance reporting requirements.

Reporting & Compliance:

• Support the preparation of periodic reinsurance reports, treaty statistics, premium schedules, and renewal information.
• Maintain accurate records of reinsurance transactions and supporting documentation.
• Provide information required for internal and external audits.
• Ensure reinsurance activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder & Team Support:

• Maintain effective working relationships with reinsurers, insurance partners, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
• Support treaty renewals, reinsurance projects, system enhancements, and other departmental initiatives.
• Provide accurate information and operational support to the Head, Reinsurance and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional qualifications in insurance or reinsurance will be an added advantage.

Experience:

• 5–7 years of relevant experience within the insurance industry.
• Practical experience in reinsurance operations, treaty administration, facultative placements, or reinsurance accounting.
• Good understanding of insurance and reinsurance principles and practices.
• Experience working with reinsurance claims, premiums, recoveries, reconciliations, and contractual documentation.
• Familiarity with IFRS, insurance regulations, and relevant industry practices is desirable.
