Sales and Distribution Manager

In partnership with our client, we are seeking a Sales and Distribution Manager to own the sales and distribution strategy for the feed mill division, driving product movement across the South East and South South regions as the primary market before expansion to the North and West. You will leverage your existing network, regional credibility, and deep understanding of the feed business to build a strong customer base, move product efficiently, and protect the commercial margins of a growing feed mill operation. Who are we looking for?
- You are an experienced sales professional with a strong and established network of relationships within the South East and South South regions of Nigeria, built through direct experience in the feed mill or agribusiness sector.
- You are deeply familiar with the feed business and understand how it differs from general FMCG sales, including the urgency of product movement, the technical nature of customer conversations, and the relationships that matter in this market.
- You have worked with or are well-known within top regional players in the feed business and can walk into conversations with credibility that opens doors quickly.
- You are commercially driven and results-oriented, comfortable with aggressive sales targets and the discipline required to hit them consistently in a competitive and relationship-driven market.
- You are organised and strategic in your approach to distribution, thinking about channel coverage, depot management, and route-to-market efficiency as much as individual sales conversations.
- You are a strong communicator in English, with local language ability in Igbo, Benin, or other regional languages being a genuine advantage in building trust with customers across your territory.
Your Responsibilities…
Sales Strategy and Execution
- You will develop and execute the sales strategy for the feed mill division across the South East and South South regions, identifying key customer segments, channels, and growth opportunities that drive consistent product movement.
- You will build and maintain a strong pipeline of customers including feed distributors, poultry farmers, agro-dealers, and traders, converting relationships into reliable repeat business.
- You will personally lead key account relationships and high-value customer conversations, leveraging your existing network to accelerate market penetration from day one.
Distribution and Channel Management
- You will oversee the distribution strategy, working with depots and trade partners to ensure feed reaches end customers efficiently, reliably, and at the right cost.
- You will manage and develop the network of small sale traders and retail market partners that form the backbone of the distribution model, ensuring they are well-supported, well-stocked, and commercially aligned.
- You will monitor channel performance and distribution coverage, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions to maximise product availability across the territory.
Revenue and Margin Management
- You will own the sales revenue targets for the feed division, tracking performance against monthly and quarterly goals and taking proactive action when results are below target.
- You will provide regular market intelligence to the General Manager including competitor pricing, customer feedback, and emerging opportunities that support commercial decision-making.
- You will work closely with production and logistics to ensure product availability, delivery timelines, and customer commitments are consistently met.
Team and Partner Development
- You will manage and develop any field sales staff or distribution partners within your territory, building capability and holding performance to clear commercial standards.
- You will represent the business professionally and credibly in all market interactions, building the brand's reputation in the South East and South South as a reliable, high-quality feed supplier.

- Consistent monthly and quarterly sales targets met or exceeded, with feed inventory moving efficiently and margins protected through disciplined pricing and channel management.
- A growing and loyal customer base across the South East and South South, with strong repeat business driven by product quality and the strength of customer relationships.
- A well-managed distribution network that delivers reliable product availability across key markets, with minimal out-of-stock situations or delivery failures.
- Clear and actionable market intelligence shared regularly with the General Manager, enabling better commercial decisions and faster responses to market opportunities.
To be considered for this role you should have…
- A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in sales and distribution within the feed mill, poultry, or broader agribusiness sector. General FMCG sales experience without feed-specific exposure will not be considered a direct substitute.
- An established and credible network of relationships within the South East and South South feed and agribusiness market.
- A proven track record of hitting sales targets and growing a customer base in a competitive, relationship-driven market.
- Strong understanding of distribution channel management including depot operations, trade partner management, and route-to-market planning.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Local language proficiency in Igbo, Benin, or other regional languages is a strong advantage.
- Willingness to be based in or regularly present across the South East and South South territory, even if not currently resident there.
