Blowing Machine Operator

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced and responsible Blowing Machine Operator to operate and monitor bottle-blowing machines used in the production of PET bottles and other plastic containers.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that bottles are produced efficiently, consistently, and according to the company's required quality standards.
• The candidate must be willing and ready to relocate to Lekki Free Zone, Lagos. Company-provided accommodation will be available.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor PET bottle blowing machines and associated production equipment.
• Set up and adjust the blowing machine according to production requirements and bottle specifications.
• Monitor machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, timing, and air supply to ensure consistent bottle quality.
• Load and monitor preforms and ensure proper feeding into the blowing machine.
• Ensure bottles are properly formed and meet required specifications for size, shape, weight, thickness, and appearance.
• Conduct regular visual and basic quality checks on finished bottles.
• Identify defective bottles and remove them from the production line.
• Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities, breakdowns, or production issues to the Production Supervisor or Maintenance Team.
• Carry out basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments when required.
• Minimize material wastage, defective products, downtime, and production losses.
• Maintain accurate production records, including output, rejects, downtime, and machine performance.
• Assist maintenance personnel during machine servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Keep the machine, production area, tools, and surrounding work environment clean and organized.
• Follow production schedules and achieve assigned daily production targets.
• Follow all company safety, quality, hygiene, and operational procedures.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of PET preforms and finished bottles.
• Work closely with other production operators and supervisors to maintain smooth production flow.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE / OND or equivalent qualification.
• 1–3 years of experience operating PET bottle blowing machines or similar plastic production equipment.
• Experience in a bottling, beverage, water, food, plastic manufacturing, or packaging company is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of PET bottle blowing processes.
• Basic understanding of machine settings, temperature control, air pressure, and production parameters.
• Ability to identify defective bottles and basic machine faults.
• Ability to carry out basic troubleshooting and machine adjustments.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work in a factory environment.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow production instructions.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred Experience:
Candidates with experience operating the following equipment will be preferred:

• PET bottle blowing machines
• Automatic bottle blowing machines
• Semi-automatic blowing machines
• Injection/stretch blow moulding machines
• PET preform heating systems
• High-pressure air systems
• Bottle inspection and handling systems
• Experience with brands such as Sidel, Krones, SIPA, Tech-Long, Nissei ASB, Aoki, or similar PET blowing equipment is an added advantage.
