Earth Moving Electrician

Job Summary

• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Earth Moving Electrician to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic systems on earth-moving and heavy-duty equipment.
• This role is ideal for a technically competent and safety-conscious Earth Moving Electrician who can effectively diagnose and maintain electrical and electronic systems, minimize equipment downtime, and ensure heavy machinery remains safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on earth-moving equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and electronic faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain and repair wiring harnesses, batteries, alternators, starters, lighting systems, and electrical controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair sensors, switches, relays, fuses, control modules, and other electrical components.
• Carry out preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Work on electrical systems of excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, graders, backhoe loaders, dump trucks, and other heavy machinery.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical components and identify potential faults before equipment failure.
• Test and replace faulty electrical components and wiring where necessary.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Use multimeters, diagnostic scanners, and other electrical testing tools effectively.
• Assist mechanical teams in diagnosing faults involving electrical and electronic systems.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and electrical maintenance activities.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns at project or field locations when required.
• Ensure all electrical repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Maintain proper care and accountability of electrical tools and equipment.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Comply with company HSE policies and electrical safety procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Certificate, Trade Test, OND, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have 2–5 years' experience as an Earth Moving Equipment Electrician, Heavy-Duty Equipment Electrician, or Automotive Electrician.
• Proven experience working on electrical systems of heavy-duty or earth-moving equipment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, batteries, charging systems, starting systems, sensors, and control systems.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and HSE requirements.
• Good problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work at project sites and remote locations when required.
• The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, batteries, sensors, control systems, and diagnostic equipment, while ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in construction, oil & gas, dredging, marine, or heavy engineering environments.
• Experience with electrical systems of major earth-moving equipment brands.
• Knowledge of computerized equipment diagnostic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting CAN-bus and electronic control systems is an advantage.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond to equipment breakdowns promptly.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
