Drilling and Blasting Engineer

Job Summary
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising drilling and blasting operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining activities while achieving production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise drilling and blasting activities in line with approved mine plans.
- Monitor drilling accuracy, blast performance, fragmentation, and productivity.
- Coordinate blasting schedules with mining operations and the site mixing and emulsion division.
- Ensure compliance with explosives safety procedures, mining regulations, and environmental standards.
- Monitor drilling and blasting costs and recommend operational improvements.
- Prepare daily and monthly operational reports and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct field inspections and ensure all blasting activities follow approved safety procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in drilling and blasting, preferably in open-pit mining.
- Knowledge of blast planning, mine surveying, fragmentation analysis, and mining operations.
- Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant blasting certifications and statutory authorisations, where required.
