Marine Superintendent

Job Summary

• The Marine Superintendent ensures that vessels continue to meet the standards and criteria required by Clients, Class and Statutory regulations. This role assists with training and evaluation of marine personnel, supports new project development, and interfaces with customers as required.
• Reporting directly to the GM Marine Operations, the Superintendent produces weekly Operations Reports and oversees navigational safety, vessel operations, security operations, and community relations.
• Experience with AHTS, MPSV, SCV
• Hands on with DP systems
• DO NOT NEED Tanker or Cargo Experience
• Experience working with multiple fleet of vessels

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain navigational policies, procedures, and compliance trackers to ensure safe and statutorily compliant navigation.
• Create and update recruitment criteria and performance appraisal guidelines for deck officers, aligning with flag state and industry requirements.
• Ensure availability of navigational information and provide navigational assistance to Captains offshore.
• Conduct documented familiarisation of navigational and deck equipment for new deck officers.
• Monitor vessel class status and ensure compliance with IMO, class, flag, and ISM requirements.
• Oversee vessel operations, including compliance with client directives, daily report accuracy, and timely submission of monthly reports.
• Manage security operations, including GSF deployment, escort duties, and port call management.
• Act as an interface on community issues and develop strategies to maintain cordial relationships with host communities.

Requirements
Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering, Geography, or Nautical Sciences.
• Certificate of Competency (CoC) minimum of Master Unlimited.
• Minimum of 10 years of sea-time experience as a Master.
• Extensive knowledge of the marine, tugboat, oil transportation, and shipping industry.
• Knowledge of vessel maintenance systems and equipment.
• Ability to make decisions and give directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive communications.
• Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively with office staff and vessel crew members.
• Ability to develop and implement appropriate procedures and controls.
• Physically fit to board vessels, barges, and tugs at sea and in port.
• Willingness to travel to out ports.

Preferred:

• Experience with ISM and SMS review processes.
• Familiarity with AIS, eFMS, and other vessel monitoring systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
