Job Description
- The successful candidate will be responsible for closely supervising and inspecting all coating activities, including surface preparation, paint mixing, coating application, and quality control processes to ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and inspect all coating activities from surface preparation through final coating acceptance.
- Closely supervise and guide contractors during abrasive blasting, surface preparation, paint mixing, and coating application activities.
- Verify that surface preparation meets specified standards such as SSPC, ISO, and NACE requirements.
- Inspect environmental conditions including surface temperature, ambient temperature, humidity, and dew point before and during coating application.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and mixing of coating materials according to manufacturers' recommendations.
- Conduct inspections and measurements including:
- Surface profile measurement
- Soluble salt testing
- Wet Film Thickness (WFT)
- Dry Film Thickness (DFT)
- Adhesion testing
- Holiday/porosity testing
- Visual inspections
- Ensure coating application methods comply with approved procedures and project specifications.
- Witness and document all inspection and testing activities and prepare detailed inspection reports.
- Identify coating defects and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with QA / QC personnel, project engineers, contractors, and client representatives on coating-related matters.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and quality documentation.
- Ensure all coating activities are executed in accordance with company HSE policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality audits, project meetings, and client inspections.
Job Requirements
- HND / B.Sc. in Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Chemistry, or related discipline.
- NACE Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 2 or equivalent certification.
- A minimum certification of NACE Coating Inspector Program (CIP) Level 2 or equivalent is mandatory.
- Additional Certifications (Preferred).
Job Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in coating inspection and quality assurance within the oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, or construction industries.
