Porter

Job Purpose

• The Porter is responsible for providing efficient and courteous assistance to guests with their luggage and other needs during arrival, stay, and departure.
• The role supports the Front Office team in creating a warm and welcoming guest experience while maintaining high standards of service, professionalism, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Arrival & Departure:

• Welcome and acknowledge guests warmly upon arrival.
• Assist guests with loading and unloading luggage from vehicles.
• Transport guests’ luggage safely to and from guest rooms.
• Escort guests to their rooms and explain relevant room features and hotel facilities.
• Assist departing guests with luggage and transportation arrangements.
• Handle guest luggage carefully and ensure it is properly identified and stored when required.

Guest Assistance:

• Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests.
• Assist guests with directions and provide basic information about hotel facilities, services, and operating hours.
• Assist guests with transportation arrangements, taxis, and other local transportation needs.
• Provide support to guests with special requirements where appropriate.
• Maintain a friendly, professional, and helpful attitude at all times.

Luggage & Storage:

• Maintain proper control and accurate records of stored luggage.
• Ensure luggage is tagged and handled according to hotel procedures.
• Maintain the luggage storage area in a clean, organized, and secure condition.
• Report any damaged, missing, or unattended luggage immediately to the appropriate supervisor.

Front Office Support:

• Support Guest Service Agents and other Front Office colleagues as required.
• Assist with guest deliveries, messages, packages, and other items.
• Assist with room moves and other guest-related operational activities.
• Maintain awareness of VIPs, special occasions, and other important guest information.
• Communicate guest requests and concerns promptly to the relevant department.

Hotel Appearance & Service Standards:

• Maintain a professional appearance and comply with hotel grooming standards.
• Ensure the entrance, lobby, driveway, and luggage areas are clean, neat, and welcoming.
• Assist in maintaining an orderly and safe hotel entrance.
• Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards.
• Protect guest privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Safety & Security:

• Handle guest belongings responsibly and with care.
• Report suspicious activities, safety hazards, damaged property, or security concerns immediately.
• Follow all emergency, fire, health, and safety procedures.
• Ensure luggage and guest belongings are never left unattended or unsecured.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of an SSCE/OND or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, customer service, or similar guest-facing role is an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact confidently and professionally with guests.
• Physically capable of handling and transporting guest luggage safely.
• Good knowledge of the hotel and its facilities.
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
