M&E Officer

El-Ezhar Care Initiative (6 Openings)

Job Summary / Position Overview

  • The MEAL officer will coordinate the implementation of the M&E activities in the field through supporting project field officers, partner staff and community facilitators/ Mobilizers in data collection, consolidation and quality management and undertake M&E related activities and implementation and appropriate monitoring and evaluation system for successful delivery and attainment of project goals and objective .

Line Management/Position in the Organization:

  • El-Ezhar Care Initiative (ECI)
  • Reports to the Program Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the collection, reporting and validating of monitoring data of project tams and ensure the data reported by field officers/ program managers is accurate and of good quality and reported in a timely manner.
  • Produce monitoring checklist and conduct regular joint field process monitoring, quality assessments and data validation, and provide feedback and recommendations for timely improvement.
  • Ensure that communities leaders and beneficiaries are actively participating in all project and &E activities.
  • Design and regularly updating project M&E guidelines and tools and ensure that project staff have access and capacity to use the tools.
  • Provide training to field level project staff on the use of the M&E system including survey sampling and piloting of M&E tools conducting assessments and evaluation activities including baseline surveys, research and evaluations in all sector.
  • Undertake regular visits to field locations/ project sites to support monitoring and evaluation processes and activities related to all sectors of ECI intervention.
  • Ensure utilization by al projects of appropriate data collection and reporting template that facilitate the acquisition and aggregation of data.
  • Any other task assigned

Internal Communication:

  • Update the project team/ management team on daily achievement and challenges encountered on the filed.
  • Contribute and Participate in weekly meetings including accurate reporting on success and challenges .
  • Develop report that synthesize and synchronize initial key finding (needs) and results (outputs/ outs
  • Ensure that the data collected goes through a data cleaning and validation process each day.

Capitalization / Institutional Knowledge Building:

  • Use lessons learn t combined with field experience to prove contributions and feedback, including during design phases of field tools and assessments.
  • actively engage in ongoing training and knowledge building
  • Participate actively in team workshops and lessons learn t seminars

Qualifications/ Core Requirements

  • University Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Sociology or related fields
  • Good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (especially UNICEF).

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years relevant working experience in NGOs/On-site training in social or monitoring work.
  • Experience working in emergency settings

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  • Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Ability to read and write in both English and others languages appropriately in Northeast Nigeria
  • Skills in training and management
  • Proficiency in the use of computers (MS Word, Excel, KoboCllect, ODK Power Point Presentation)and basic understanding of data analysis
  • Should be multitasking and can work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to provide quality and timely support and services.
  • Professionalism and flexible attitude to work
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of humanitarian sector.
  • Ability to analyze and suggest improvement
  • Ability to speak English fluently, Hausa and other local languages desirable.
  • Familiarity with financial management and reporting requirements of major donors.
  • Excellent English written, verbal communication and report writing skillsto manage relationship in potential tense situations.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to diverse contexts.

Organizational Requirement:

  • The post holder will, at all times, carry out his/her responsibilities with the utmost respect for the protection of children by the ECI’s Child and Vulnerable Person/persons Safeguarding Policy.
  • The post holder will be required to respect ethnic and racial differences during and after work hours.
  • The post holder will report to the PROGRAM MANAGER
  • To be committed to and share in the outworking of ECI’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • The post holder will be expected to behave according to ECI’s ‘Code of Conduct’

Safeguarding and Protection:

  • Efforts will be made to ensure adequate exclusion of minors, young and other vulnerable adults who are not legally authorized to work from the scheme to ensure that the project is devoid of litigationand court injunctions.
