Pharmacist

Job Description

• The Pharmacist is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and proper management of medications within KTHSMB healthcare facilities.
• The role involves ensuring the safe and effective use of drugs, providing pharmaceutical care, reviewing prescriptions, and advising healthcare professionals and patients on medication use.
• The officer will also manage drug inventory, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to rational drug use and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and dispense prescriptions accurately and safely.
• Provide counseling to patients on medication use and adherence.
• Ensure proper storage and management of pharmaceutical supplies.
• Monitor drug interactions, side effects, and contraindications.
• Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and drug inventory.
• Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and standards.
• Advise healthcare professionals on drug therapy and usage.
• Supervise pharmacy support staff and technicians.
• Conduct inventory control and prevent stockouts or expiries.
• Participate in hospital pharmacy and drug management committees.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or Pharm.D).
• NYSC Discharged / Exemption Certificate.
• Valid practicing license.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology and drug safety.
• Good communication and counseling skills.
• Relevant experience.
