Job Description
- We are seeking a qualified and patient-focused Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of common eye conditions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Diagnose and manage refractive errors and common ocular conditions.
- Prescribe spectacles, contact lenses, and other appropriate visual aids.
- Perform appropriate clinical tests and interpret results.
- Identify eye conditions requiring referral to an ophthalmologist or other specialists.
- Provide patient education on eye health, hygiene, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and professional guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in health promotion and community eye-care initiatives when required.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor of Optometry (OD) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Must be registered with the relevant professional regulatory body in Nigeria.
Experience:
- 1–2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
- Experience in a hospital, eye clinic, or healthcare setting will be an added advantage.
- Fresh graduates with strong clinical competence may also be considered.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid practising licence.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and commitment to quality patient care.
- Must be willing to work according to the hospital's schedule and operational requirements.
- Applicants must be resident in or willing to relocate to Benin City, Edo State.
- Must be available to resume within the required timeframe.
