Job Description

  • We are seeking a qualified and patient-focused Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of common eye conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage refractive errors and common ocular conditions.
  • Prescribe spectacles, contact lenses, and other appropriate visual aids.
  • Perform appropriate clinical tests and interpret results.
  • Identify eye conditions requiring referral to an ophthalmologist or other specialists.
  • Provide patient education on eye health, hygiene, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and professional guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in health promotion and community eye-care initiatives when required.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor of Optometry (OD) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional regulatory body in Nigeria.

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital, eye clinic, or healthcare setting will be an added advantage.
  • Fresh graduates with strong clinical competence may also be considered.

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid practising licence.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and commitment to quality patient care.
  • Must be willing to work according to the hospital's schedule and operational requirements.
  • Applicants must be resident in or willing to relocate to Benin City, Edo State.
  • Must be available to resume within the required timeframe.

  • Good patient-care and counselling skills.
  • Attention to detail and sound clinical judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using optometric equipment and relevant clinical software.
