Cashier

Job Description

• We are seeking a trustworthy, organized, and customer-focused Cashier to join our administrative team.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for handling patient payments, issuing receipts, maintaining accurate transaction records, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring proper accountability for all financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and process payments from patients for consultations, treatments, medications, optical products, and other clinic services.
• Issue accurate receipts and maintain proper records of all transactions.
• Receive payments through cash, POS, bank transfers, and other approved payment channels.
• Reconcile daily collections with POS, transfer, and cash records.
• Prepare daily cash and revenue reports for management.
• Ensure all payments are properly recorded in the clinic's accounting or management system.
• Verify patient bills and confirm charges before collecting payments.
• Handle refunds and payment adjustments in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of outstanding patient balances and follow up where required.
• Safeguard cash, receipts, payment records, and other financial documents.
• Work closely with the accounts, front desk, HMO, and clinical teams to resolve billing and payment issues.
• Respond professionally to patient questions regarding payments, invoices, and charges.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
• Report discrepancies, suspected errors, or irregularities promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashiering area.

Requirements

• Minimum of OND/HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1–3 years experience as a cashier, accounts officer, front desk cashier, or in a similar role.
• Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, pharmacy, or healthcare environment is an advantage.
• Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
• Basic understanding of accounting and financial transactions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications.
• Experience using POS terminals and accounting or hospital management software is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• High level of honesty, integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple transactions efficiently.
