- We are seeking a skilled and dedicated provider to train and support selected public-sector providers across assigned states and locations to deliver high-quality family planning services, particularly long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).
- The ideal candidate will help strengthen access to family planning services and ensure that women in Nigeria can make informed choices about their reproductive health.
- The successful candidate will support facility management, client safety and satisfaction, demand creation, accurate data reporting, and stakeholder engagement within their assigned area of operation.
- They will work closely with public-sector providers and other stakeholders to strengthen the quality and availability of family planning services.
Key Responsibilities
Training and Supportive Supervision
- Train and provide supportive supervision to assigned providers in line with MSI Nigeria’s quality assurance standards.
- Ensure provider competency in counselling, infection prevention, medical emergency preparedness, and family planning service provision is maintained.
- Conduct monthly or bi-monthly supportive supervision, coaching, and mentoring based on identified needs.
- Maintain up-to-date training, competency, and supportive supervision records for all assigned providers.
- Follow up on action plans arising from supportive supervision and quality assessments and track progress to completion.
- Support the preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly facility performance reports on training and quality assessment activities.
- Ensure assigned facilities comply with quality standards established by the Federal Government of Nigeria and MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices
- Lead performance review meetings with the Regional Manager and Quality Advisor to improve provider and facility performance.
- Document and share best practices and lessons learned from supportive supervision and quality improvement activities.
- Support the planning and delivery of clinical training across assigned facilities.
- Support state-level quality audits in collaboration with the Regional Clinical Quality Advisor and follow up on improvement actions.
Supply and Facility Management:
- Ensure adequate availability of commodities, consumables, and relevant clinical equipment across assigned facilities.
- Monitor stock levels during supportive supervisory visits and prevent stock-outs of essential commodities.
- Manage training supplies in line with MSI Nigeria’s medical supply distribution guidelines.
- Ensure clinical governance guidelines, manuals, and job aids are available and properly used at assigned facilities.
- Ensure infection prevention materials are available and consistently used across all assigned facilities.
- Ensure expired commodities and clinical supplies are not present at service delivery points.
- Support facility referral systems and track referral linkages and service utilisation.
- Facilitate timely reporting and follow-up of incidents related to family planning and SA/PSC services.
Advocacy, Client Mobilisation and External Relations:
- Work with government, implementing partners, and internal MSI Nigeria stakeholders to achieve programme and organisational objectives.
- Represent MSI Nigeria at relevant state-level meetings and stakeholder engagement platforms as required.
- Promote the visibility and credibility of the MSI Nigeria brand across the assigned state.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government, partners, and public institutions within the state.
- Strengthen collaboration between communication and community mobilisation activities.
- Work with providers and the Family Planning Coordinator to identify viable demand creation opportunities in line with MSI Nigeria strategy.
Data Reporting and Management:
- Ensure all service data from assigned facilities are collected and reported into ORION by the 3rd of each month.
- Validate facility service data before entry into ORION and ensure all submissions are accurate and complete.
- Ensure all data entered into ORION complies with reporting timelines and data validation requirements.
- Archive reported data chronologically at the state office for audit purposes.
- Review data entries and make necessary corrections during the monthly data review period.
- Train assigned providers on the use of data reporting tools during supportive supervision visits.
- Conduct provider review meetings to address data gaps and document mop-up data in line with approved SOPs.
- Ensure data reporting tools are available and consistently used across all assigned facilities.
- Develop integrated monthly reports capturing operational performance and clinical quality deliverables.
- Conduct monthly Client Record Audits and collate completed client feedback forms for submission to RMEA.
Conduct monthly facility performance reviews, including reporting rate analysis for facilities under supervision.
Leadership:
Demonstrate commitment to MSI Nigeria’s mission and goals while working collaboratively with all team members.
GeographicReference
Maintain effective communication with state teams and relevant MSI Nigeria departments.
Promote a positive work culture and professional working environment across the assigned state.
Others:
Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager and Regional Clinical Quality Advisor.
Key Experience/Qualifications
- Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, Midwife, or other relevant qualifications in medical sciences.
- Familiarity with Nigeria’s diverse cultural, social, and religious contexts, as well as international health and development issues and the international donor community.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Technical expertise in long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), particularly IUD and implant insertion and removal.
- Significant experience in competency-based training and certification of healthcare providers, including nurses, midwives, and doctors, in modern family planning methods.
- Experience providing training for national and international NGOs in Nigeria. Experience working on DFID-, USAID-, or Gates-funded projects and in diverse team environments is an added advantage.
- Experience managing facilities, clients, and teams.
- Willingness to travel frequently to project implementation sites.
- Proficiency in using computers and standard office software.
